About the event
Our Low-Commitment Entry-Level AAU Team Tryouts are designed to be fun, encouraging, and stress-free! The goal is to assess each athlete's readiness for team participation while introducing them to the structure of a recreational competition team. No previous competition experience is required.
During tryouts, athletes will rotate through stations where coaches will observe:
Listening skills and coachability – following directions, staying focused, and demonstrating a positive attitude.
Strength and flexibility – age-appropriate exercises such as hollow holds, plank holds, jumps, bridges, and basic flexibility skills.
Basic gymnastics foundations – including forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, lever shapes, jumps, and balance.
Tumbling readiness – evaluating body control, safe landings, and foundational tumbling technique.

Why is there an $8 tryout fee? The $8 fee helps cover the space rental and tryout preparation costs while reserving spots for families who plan to attend. We've found that free events often have high no-show rates, so this small fee encourages commitment and helps ensure a well-organized experience for everyone.
